About Canadian Finance Tools

Canadian Finance Tools is a collection of free, browser-based personal finance calculators built specifically for Canadians. Every calculator accounts for provincial differences in tax rates, CPP/EI rules, and sales tax structures — because a calculator that ignores your province isn't very useful.

The site was built out of frustration with existing tools that either required account creation, showed American numbers, or didn't explain where their figures came from. Every rate and bracket on this site includes a citation to the official government source (CRA, provincial finance ministries) and is marked when it needs to be verified for a new tax year.

About the author

My name is Michael — software developer and financial enthusiast based in Vancouver. I hold a PhD in science and an MS in Finance. I built this site because I kept running the same Canadian tax calculations by hand and couldn't find a single tool that was accurate, province-aware, and free of dark patterns. Everything here runs in your browser; nothing is ever sent to a server.

All calculators provide estimates based on publicly available government data. They are intended for general education and planning purposes only and do not constitute financial, tax, or legal advice. Tax rules change; always verify rates against canada.ca and consult a qualified professional before making financial decisions.
